The Optimed YANG is a NEW computerised test chart. It had several innovations over conventional computerised test charts.
The YANG is the World's first solid state computerised chart. This means total reliability in terms of hardware. Moving to a solid state device means that there is no likelihood of hard drive failure or fan burn out as with ordinary PCs. It also means the unit is almost completely silent!
The Optimed YANG also has other hardware benefits that could only be added if it were made for vision testing as opposed to an off-the -shelf PC. The YANG has an in-built LED light source for fixation (a spot on a screen is never bright enough to work with a MAddox rod).
Another innovation is the in-built photo-detector. This detector measures room luminance and auto-calibrates the screen on start-up so you can be sure your chart is compliant with ISO standards for chart luminance. The YANG is also pre-calibrated as using sophisticated photometers for colour.
As the YANG is an instrument rather than software on PCs, we can offer full hardware support. Furthermore, you can even choose between black, white and grey external finishes!
